DARK SKY WALKS
Interested in an enriching outdoor activity for the winter months? From November 8th, Join us for our weekly Dark Sky Walks in Páirc Náisiúnta Néifinne Fiáine- Wild Nephin National Park every Friday starting at 8PM.
The first Friday of each month is held at the Ballycroy Visitor Centre on our Tóchar Daithí Bán Trail (2km Loop).
The remaining Friday’s of the month are held at the Letterkeen cottage (Letterkeen, Srahrevagh, Newport, Co.) on the Vary’s Loop trail (2.5 km loop).
The duration of the walk is approximately 2.5 hours, and walkers should dress accordingly for the time of year and weather. If conditions allow, we will enjoy some stargazing with a tour of the night sky along the way and a visit to a restored cottage as part of the National Park’s restoration project. Guides will have torches to use as required, and we operate a torch etiquette policy for the walks. Visitors may bring their own torches but we kindly ask they are used carefully and with the comfort of other walkers in mind – red light preferable.
Walks will only be cancelled for Weather Warnings, Heavy rain forecast or Hazardous road conditions
ONLY EXCEPTIONS (No Walk) this season will be December 20th, 27th, and January 3rd.
