Exploring Astronomy from Meteorites to Grapes 🌎🪐🔭
It sounds like an odd title, but when you see everything then it will make sense! STEM Communicator Seanie Morris from “STEM In Action” will show that If Earth was the size of a grape, how big would the Sun be. How far would the nearest star be to our grape? And where do meteorites come from? Would you like to handle some real meteorites? And if it is sunny, what about looking at sunspots through a telescope? This practical introduction to some of the common areas of astronomy on a small scale will have you reeling at how big space can actually be! Suits all ages, young children should be with a parent or guardian.
Make and Pop a Rocket Workshop 🚀🧑🚀
STEM Communicator Seanie Morris from “STEM In Action” brings a fun, practical and slightly messy activity to help work out how rockets work! Using all the materials that are provided, you will build a small rocket with art and craft before exploring the science bits, including knowledge on how to make your own real rocket fuel at home, before using some basic chemistry to launch your mini rocket! You keep what you make and will receive additional items to keep the science going at home. Ideal for the family, especially for children under age 8 that would need a little extra help.
